Her foster parent describes Java as “sweet and super energetic.” She’s still working on being housetrained, but she gets along great with other dogs and kids. Java is a sweetheart who was found wandering a Memphis neighborhood on Halloween. She seemed to be lost, but no owner came forward. Now, Java is hoping for someone to be a forever friend to take her home! Java is a Treeing Tennessee Brindle mix. Dogs of this breed were originally bred for hunting and “treeing.” As a result, puppies like Java are high energy dogs who have shrewd intelligence and can run and chase with great speed. Clementine gets along very well with other dogs and is ready to keep learning how to live alongside an adoring family. Clementine is a Cane Corso (also known as an “Italian Mastiff”) mix. This makes her a member of a unique breed. Originally bred in Italy as large guardian dogs, Cane Corsos almost went extinct in the mid-1900s! Today, they make great family dogs. Clementine has short hair, making her coat easy to maintain, though she will shed. Female Cane Corsos often weigh between 88 and 100 pounds. This is a big dog! On that note, one con of the breed is their relatively shorter lifespan. As a larger dog, many Cane Corsos only live between 9 and 12 years. They also do require training and strong leadership. Like others in his breed, American bulldogs have small and triangular ears, short and stocky legs, and a strong body. Dogs in this breed are assertive, loyal, and friendly. They are fun and incredibly engaging, so you can expect them to be very affectionate! You can expect male American bulldogs to grow to be between 60 and 90 pounds and live to be 10 to 15 years old. These dogs have short coats and have low grooming needs, but you should keep an eye out for skin infections and potential eye problems. Along with this, bulldogs are susceptible to some health conditions related to the short shape of their snout and their very sensitive stomachs. You may also find that Dutton has a stubborn streak typical of many bulldogs. This could make him difficult to train. Thankfully, a lot of that hard work has already been done for you! In Dutton’s case and that of other bulldogs, their stubbornness can be overcome with patience and consistent training. American bulldogs want to please their owners and be part of the family.
